The Clean Up project aims to instil local pride within the community. There is very little provision of public bins in rural areas with no focus on recycling.
Cleanliness in a community benefits everyone and builds a positive mindset with regards to civic pride and looking out for one another. Everyone young and old can get involved and these habits will then be instilled in the local children.
FDF have placed a total of 20 public bins around a local village along with signage encouraging their use. Clean up days have been organised where people have been financially incentivized to pick up rubbish and litter in their area.
It costs £1500 for 20 bins, signage and pay to ensure the village remains clean.
After successful implementation in one village we are moving forward with plans to roll this out amongst others.
